Why seek counselling?
Counselling is a safe place for you to help yourself to move forward. It is also for you to consider your own needs in dealing with what matters to you. It is a way of empowering yourself when you are experiencing difficulties in finding yourself.
Consider therapy if...
- you feel an overwhelming and prolonged sense of helplessness and sadness and if your problems do not seem to get better despite your efforts and any help that you maybe getting from your family and friends.
- you are finding it difficult to carry out everyday activities: for example, if you find it difficult to concentrate on assignments, your duties and if your work performance is suffering as a result.
- you worry excessively, always expect the worst of people, or if you are always on edge.
- your actions are harmful to yourself or to others: for instance, if you are drinking too much alcohol, abusing drugs, comfort eating or becoming overly argumentative and aggressive.
- you are having relationship problems, or struggle with family and identity issues.
- if you feel lonely even within a large group of people.
- you feel downtrodden or if you feel that you are being bullied or devalued.
- you feel that you are not being listened to.
